Bowser Dental Team



At Bowser Center for Advanced Dentistry, all of our professionals maintain high levels of accreditation and pursue ongoing education to stay abreast of the latest advances in dentistry. The brief descriptions below will familiarize you with our team, their training and credentials, and their work experience.

Dr Carl BowserDr. Carl Bowser
Dr. Carl was born and raised in York, Pa and graduated from Eastern York Co. High School. He studied and graduated from Juniata College in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and received his dental training at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. He opened his dental office in 1981 and practiced side by side with his father, Dr. Ed Bowser, Jr. In 1992, Dr. Carl moved his practice to it’s present modern and spacious location.

Since the addition of Dr. Brian and Dr. Robert to the staff, Dr. Carl has been able to return to academia, joining the faculty of the Temple Dental School as a part-time clinical instructor. He thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to pass on his knowledge and skills to the next generation of dental professionals.

Dr. Carl is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), and the Pennsylvania Dental Association (PDA). He is a past president of the York County Dental Society, and is a Fellow in the International College of Dentistry (ICD). He continues to attend seminars and workshops in order to further advance the dental health and comfort of the patients of Bowser Center for Advanced Dentistry

Dr. Carl lives in York with his wife Mimi (who is also a dedicated staff member), and three kittens. He is a local sports fan, and serves with the York chapter of PIAA as a high school soccer referee. He also enjoys golf and boasts of the few times he can still beat Dr. Brian and Dr. Robert.

Dr. Brian was raised in York and graduated from Dallastown High School in 1999. He then attended Bucknell University, graduating in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in physics and a math minor. During the summer between Dr. Brian’s Junior and Senior years at Bucknell, he worked as a chairside assistant for Dr. Carl. Almost immediately, he knew dentistry was for him. After Bucknell, Dr. Brian attended Temple University School of Dentistry, from which he graduated in 2007.

Since joining Bowser Center for Advanced Dentistry in June of 2007, Dr. Brian has continued his education, taking many courses and training to place dental implants. He loves all aspects of his job, but especially enjoys the every-day interaction with his patients. Dr. Brian served as a Delegate to the Pennsylvania Dental Association House of Delegates Annual Meeting in 2009, and as an Alternate Delegate in 2008 and 2010. He is currently Vice President of the York County Dental Society and a member of the Society’s executive board. Dr. Brian has also served on the Byrnes Health Education Center Annual Golf Outing Committee since 2008.

Dr. Brian lives in York with his wife Kathy. He is a sports lover, avid Baltimore Ravens fan, and tortured Baltimore Orioles fan. His hobbies include cooking, reading, and music.

Dr. Robert was a graduate of Dallastown High School in 2002 and attended Juniata College graduating in 2006. While playing four years of soccer and one year of tennis he obtained his bachelor’s degree in organic chemistry. Dentistry became Dr. Robert’s career choice during the summer after his second year at Juniata, when he worked as an assistant at the office. He attended Temple Dental School and graduated in May 2010. Since graduation, Dr. Robert has completed several continuing education courses and has found a niche and a love for working with children. He has also completed training courses for invisible aligner braces, allowing patients to be treated for minor orthodontic problems without the hassle of traditional wires and brackets.

Dr. Robert serves as an Associate Board Member for the Susan Byrnes Health Education Center and has found great joy in serving the community through dentistry. He enjoys playing soccer, tennis, golf and spends much more time reading than he imagined now that he’s out of school. He married his wife, Kara, in May 2010 and now has a puppy and recently learned that he will be a father in February 2012!

Mimi received her BS in accounting and statistics from Juniata College. She worked in hospital statistics, public accounting, and was the practice bookkeeper before becoming an official team member as office manager in 1991. Mimi's interests include tennis, golf, reading, swimming and boating. She is thrilled to be working so closely with her husband and sons.



Kara Bowser, Office Manager
Kara received her BS in criminal justice from Juniata College and her law degree from Widener University. She was a practicing attorney prior to joining the team in May of 2011. Kara is excited to be a part of the family practice. Her interests include soccer, running, shopping, and spending time with friends and family.

Becky graduated in 1984 from the Dental Assisting program at York Vo-tech. Since that time, she has been working as an assistant with the Bowser team. Over the past 26 years Becky has participated in many courses to stay up to date with state of the art materials, equipment, and procedures. During her time off, she enjoys spending time with her family and going to the beach.

Sharon found her way to Bowser Center for Advanced Dentistry from a friend who had grown up as a patient in the practice. After being on staff as a temporary employee for a few months, she became a permanent part of the team in July 2010. Sharon achieved her dental assisting diploma from the Concorde Career Institute in San Diego, CA in 1990. She decided to further her dental career and achieved her Associates in Science degree in dental hygiene from Harrisburg Area Community College in 2009. Sharon has a husband Tim, a daughter Brooke, who is working toward a future working with autistic children, and a son, Andrew, who is in the United States Marine Corp. Sharon enjoys traveling, photography, hiking, and spending time with her family.

Belinda has been working in the dental field since 1986. She earned her certificate in dental assisting in 1986 from the Lancaster County School of Technology and is certified by the State of Pennsylvania in Radiology. As Belinda’s enthusiasm grew for dentistry, she enrolled at Harrisburg Community College and completed the Expanded Functions Dental Assistant program in 2002. She is a member of the American Dental Assistant’s Association, and the Pennsylvania Dental Assistant’s Association. Belinda enjoys getting to know her patients and helping them maintain their beautiful smiles. In 1989 she married Shane and they have one daughter, Michelle. Her interests include scrap booking, reading, and spending time with her family.

Kalie was born and raised in York, Pa. She graduated from York Suburban High School in 2004, and then attended Pennsylvania College of Technology from 2004-2007, where she earned her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene. During college, Kalie was a part of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, International Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society. She did volunteer work in the community ranging from oral hygiene education at county health fairs, nursing homes, hospitals, and federal penitentiaries to Sullivan Sealant Day for underprivileged children.

Following hygiene school, Kalie transferred to West Chester University where she graduated in 2008 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences. In addition, from 2007-2008, Kalie interned and was employed at DENTSPLY where she worked with the director of clinical research, assisting him during product studies and major dental procedures. Kalie has been practicing hygiene since 2007. She is CPR certified with infants, children, and adults and is also NIH certified in human subjects. Some of Kalie’s hobbies include boating, kayaking, mountain biking, painting, and baking flavored nuts. She loves sunshine, warm weather, and the beach.

Tiffany started working in the dental field as a dental assistant in 1995. She has a certificate in dental assisting from York County School of Technology and is Pennsylvania State certified in Radiology. Her interest in dentistry started when she was a patient for a friend who was in dental hygiene school. In 2005 she joined Dr. Carl’s team as an office administrator. Her knowledge of the clinical side of dentistry is a valuable asset in the administration office. In addition to her everyday administrative duties, Tiffany handles patients’ accounts and financial arrangements. When Tiffany is not at swim meets cheering on her daughters, she is shopping, travelling, or spending time with family.

Beth has been working in the dental field since 1978. She worked for 11 years as a dental assistant and in 1989 moved into the field of dental hygiene. Beth earned her degree in dental hygiene at DeKalb College in Georgia, and has been a member of the Bowser team since 1996. She married her husband Tony in 2001 and they have three children, Andrew, Jared, and Aubrey. Beth’s interests include reading, cooking, and hiking.

Ally graduated from Y.T.I. Career Institute in February 2009 with a diploma in Dental Assisting. She also has become certified by the State of Pennsylvania in Radiology. She first joined the Bowser team during an externship for Y.T.I. at the end of 2008, and was then offered a permanent position as an assistant soon after she graduated. Ally has since decided to become part of the office administration team and also use her skills to continue assisting. Ally has also assumed the role of New Patient Coordinator, and welcomes all of the new patients to Bowser Center for Advanced Dentistry.

Ally’s interest in dental assisting started with a family member and a family friend who took up the career and always seemed to love their job. Getting braces and seeing how they gave her a beautiful smile also motivated Ally to help other people feel great about their own smile. In her spare time, Ally enjoys being with friends and family, singing, and loves the outdoors.

In 1996, a friend of Rose’s who was an office manager in a dental office informed her of an opening in their office and asked if she was interested in changing her field of interest. Rose accepted the challenge and the position. She continued to be a patient of Dr. Carl’s while working in another dental office and in 2002 she made the switch to join his team. In addition to normal business office duties, Rose is the liaison between our patients and their insurance companies. She is tireless in her efforts to get patients’ benefits paid for them. Rose likes to go antiquing in her time off. Rose has two sons. Barry, a captain in the Air Force, is making the military a career. David, who lives in York, is a Licensed Realtor with a local broker company, specializing in buyer’s agency.

Heather graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College in 2008 with a certificate in Dental Assisting and Expanded Function Dental Assisting. She is certified by the State of Pennsylvania in Radiology. Her interest in dentistry was generated by listening to and watching her mother (Becky). She joined the office part time in the summer of 2003 and became a permanent team member in the fall of 2006. Heather’s hobbies include scrapbooking, baking, gardening, and spending time with her husband Jeremiah and their children.
